North West : Arnside$

Arnside is on the south side of the estuary of the river Kent. Fishing is either into the low water channel or generally from the shore at high water. There are areas of quick sands which move location and a fast tidal bore on spring tides so do not cross the channel. A siren warns of the incomming tide (sometimes!).

Fishing is mainly for flounders which are sometimes numerous but there are eels and occasionally small bass and whiting. Mullet occur in the hot summer months. Any sea-trout caught must be returned unless you have the correct licence and it is in season.
$

North East : Doverstrand$

Doverstrand is a 4 mile stretch of wall along the River Humber at Immingham, there are bays along the wall every 50 yards or so where you can turn and park your car and fish alongside your car.

If it is blowing a gale on the coast, you will allways get a line out here as it is quite sheltered, feeding fish can be can be located as little as 30 yds to 70 yds from the wall.

Can get quite crowded at weekends so choosing a midweek tide may be a better option.
$

Easy access for all fish from your car boot! mixed bag from this mark cod, bass, flatties, whiting, coalfish. 3 main areas to fish from the carpark at the bottom of the bank (a decent chuck is needed as is a high tide), the railings on the road side in front of the houses (beware of the cars! also a high tide is needed) and the beach just as you go out of sandsend on the way to whitby (fish any state of the tide but 3 hrs before high upto 2 hrs after works well). good fishing can be had from all of these marks.
$
